1959. "Ingmar Johansson" (Glanselius) is on the verge of puberty, his mother (Leiden) is sick and his father is on a trip. They send him to "Uncle Gunnar" (Von Bromsen) for a while, but he feels alienated there and can't bear to be away from his dog. However, it slowly adapts to the environment.
