Hellzapoppin'(1941)

Olsen and Jansen, two comedians of variety shows, try to bring their hit Broadway show to the cinema and bring a couple in love together. This surreal and generally avant-garde fantasy makes fundamental changes in the form of a film in the film. It begins with an angry director yelling, "Cut!" "Hellzapoppin" has a cartoon counterpart: Chuck Jones' 1953 animated film "Duck Amuck," in which Daffy Duck discovers the existentialist foibles of a cartoon character.
