"Ruth" (Winslet), a girl from Australia, met a Hindu religious leader named "Baba" on a trip to India and became spiritually inspired under the influence of his teachings. Now in Australia, the mother of "Ruth" (Hamilton) takes him to see "Waters" (Keitel); Specialist in matters of pulling people out of religious extremist groups. He gradually weakens Ruth's belief in Baba's teachings, but he himself becomes fascinated by Ruth.
