The story of the series is about the naval officer Steve McGarrett, who returns to Hawaii after his father's murder. Because of his family history, the governor of Hawaii gives permission to set up a group to deal with crime in Hawaii and also to follow up on his father's murder. In each episode of the series, a different story is followed apart from the main story of the series.
