The Botany of Desire(2009)

Journalism professor and nutrition student Michael Pollan explains the history of 4 plants. Each of these plants has somehow managed to find an essential role in human life, and for this reason, they have been promoted and expanded. Apples for their sweetness, tulips for their beauty, marijuana for their pleasure, and potatoes for their tonic. The story of the discovery and spread of each of these plants is different and each has a symbolic connection with human civilization. This film narrates such stories and examines the relationship between them.
