During his artistic career, Doc Sorensen won many awards and honors. In 2007, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Trumpet Society. Sorensen was also inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame in 2011. Doc Sorensen died on June 18, 2024 at the age of 96 at his home in California.
