The Monkees were a televised pop group consisting of Michael Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz, Davy Jones and Peter Turk. The 1966-1968 NBC television show was a fast-paced comedy that interspersed the group's catchy songs written by professional songwriters. Although the show only lasted two seasons, the Monkees became a bona fide recording and touring group and are remembered as iconic figures of 1960s pop culture.
