The 33rd edition of the Olympic Games was hosted by Paris, France, and with the end of this edition of the games, the closing ceremony was held. Unlike the opening ceremony which was held on the Seine River, the National Stadium of Paris, France hosted the closing ceremony. In the final part of the ceremony, the Olympic flag was given to the next Olympic host.

About 10,714 athletes will come to Paris for the 33rd Summer Olympics. 329 events will be held in 32 sports. For the first time in the history of the Summer Olympics, the opening ceremony will not be held in the stadium.
