House of Sand and Fog(2003)

Cathy (Jennifer Connelly), who has recently been freed from addiction, lives in a small house near the beach in Northern California; He is depressed because of his separation from his wife and is not paying attention to the events around him, he doesn't pay any attention to the notices he receives for his back taxes, and he only realizes his situation when the agents come to his house to evacuate the house and put it up for auction.
