The film begins in a village in Kurdistan, Iran. Kaku is a lively and simple-hearted man who makes a living driving a bus, but he has a great interest in the art of music, especially the traditional music of his people. In the middle of a cockfight, he receives a message from "Master Mamo" on his cell phone. Master Mamou is an elderly musician whom all art-loving Kurds, like Kaku, consider him to be the greatest living master of Kurdish music and have immense respect for him. Naturally, he has been prevented from an active artistic life because of the current art policies in the Islamic Republic...
