"Gail Renard" (De Niro) is a salesman who failed in his personal and professional life. He is a baseball die-hard and spends all his time following his favorite player, Bobby Rayburn (Snipes). "Bobby" begins a bad sports season and all the honors are attributed to another player named "Primo" (del Toro) who plays on the same team. "Gil" also kills "Primo" to fix the situation.
