This series is based on the 1869 novel of the same name written by Anthony Trollope, Louis Trevelyan is a young and rich English nobleman. He travels to the imaginary islands of the British colonies and falls in love with the eldest daughter of the governor (Sir Marmaduke Rowley). The Rowley family accompanies him on a trip to London, where he marries Emily, then Emily's family returns to their city, but Emily's sister stays with him in London. Lewis and Emily's life goes well and happily, they have a son, but with the arrival of an old friend of Emily's father (Colonel Osborne), their happy life gradually turns into darkness...
