From Up on Poppy Hill

In 1964, the Olympics will be a new beginning for Japan, along with the old buildings of the Meiji period that remind the citizens of the bad days that these changes were a sign of a peaceful future and a highly purposeful country. Omi, a shy teenage girl, manages to build a wooden house on the beach in Yokohama. His father was killed in the war and his mother is always at the table, so in order to pay for his schooling, he has to turn the family economy around. Their classmate, who doesn't know his parentage, lives with some of the other school kids in the old high school clubhouse, a French-style mansion that is slated to be demolished for the current renovation project. Sean and his classmates will not let this happen. The more their fear of losing their shelter increases, the more they are terrified of what they see as their pure history. As soon as the students organize a protest, Sean and Omi become closer. When these two lovely teenagers reach a common understanding and trust, what starts as a friendship turns into something deeper. However, when Shaun starts to investigate about his past, truths are revealed which may threaten the separation of these two people.
