Ann Shirley is a freckled girl with red hair who grew up in an orphanage. He is intelligent, has boundless imagination and with his hope and perseverance and simple kindnesses, he tries to start a new life. Although he has to go through many hardships to enter this new world, the future is so beautiful and promising in his opinion that he copes with any problem and adapts to any situation in order to reach it. She moves to Charlottetown to attend classes and pursue her dream of becoming a school teacher. He has to quickly adapt to the new environment as well as his new classmates. This is Anne Shirley's first experience outside of Green Gables. He soon faces important decisions about his future, a romantic relationship and tragedy contrary to what he knew.
