A passenger plane is involved in an air accident shortly after take off. The damage to the plane forces it to gain altitude, and computer simulations indicate that the plane is about to split in half. While trying to land the plane safely, the captain must contend with the airline inspector (whom he resents), his love for the co-pilot (his girlfriend), and the plane's manufacturer (whose solutions are unethical).
