A certain man knows exactly where to go after being released from prison! After hearing a story called "Shinigami" (God of Death) from a traditional comic storyteller, he decides to become his student. But Yakumo (the narrator) has never taken a student before, but contrary to everyone's expectations, he accepts the eager ex-prisoner and gives him the nickname "Yotaro" (meaning a jumping man). As Yutaro happily begins his new life, he meets other people in Yakumo's life, including Konatsu. Konatsu is the daughter of a famous storyteller and after her father's tragic death, Yakumo adopted her. Konasto loved his father's storytelling and would like to become a storyteller himself, but this is impossible for women.
