Cambodia, 1975. When the Khmer Rouge entered Phnom Penh, Sidney Schaberg (Watersten), an American reporter, and other foreign journalists were transferred to a war camp and witnessed the execution of some prisoners. After "Dit Pran" (Ngur), the guide and translator of "Sydney" convinces the Khmer Rouge to release the journalists, these people take refuge in the French embassy.
