After Opal, the lead singer of a New York City jazz band, leaves the band at the insistence of her boyfriend. He is replaced by a Balkan immigrant named Nina Novak. After the band's performance is canceled, Nina convinces the bar owner that she can bring the Balkan king and asks a taxi driver to impersonate the king.
