In the not-too-distant future, personal computers have taken the form of an attractive man and woman called persukum (Japanese for personal computer or PC). Hideki Motosawa is a poor student who failed the university entrance exam. Because of this, he had to go to the city, find a job and prepare himself for the next university exam. Of course, he was very interested in having a Persocom, but he could not afford to buy them. One day when he was walking down the alley, he found a persukum in a pile of garbage. But his new discovery was different from the other models he had heard about. He had no launch system and could only say: Chi, "Chii", hence the name Chi. As Hideki learns more about his Persocom, he realizes that he is not of any type of Persocom and is most likely one of the early models. He also learned about Chubitz's rumor about presscoms that have the ability to make decisions for themselves instead of running a program.
