Kagami Taiga has just returned from America and went to Sirin High School. He learned basketball very well and principles in America, and now that he is back, he is looking for an opponent who will motivate him. Kuroko Tetsuya is a boy who plays basketball worse than any amateur, and he is practically an unpromising person, but Kuroko's only talent is that he passes very well and because of his short size, he easily passes among the other players, and this makes him one of the 6 key players of the "Miracle Generation" team, one of the strongest basketball teams in Japan. Now that Kuroko has gone to high school, he is separated from the kids on that team and becomes a member of Sirin's basketball club. Kuroko and Kagami decide to help their teacher's basketball team qualify for the national interscholastic tournament, and they must compete against Kuroko's former teammates.
