"Elizabeth Halsey" (Cameron Diaz) is a poor teacher in Chicago who is known for being foul-mouthed at school. She decides to marry her rich fiancé to change her life, but it doesn't take long for her fiancé to leave her. Now she is going to hit on the brain of one of the school's rich teachers named "Scott Delacorte" (Justin Timberlake), but another teacher is also in love with Scott. On the other hand, the gym teacher, "Russell Gatiss" (Jason Siegel) is trying to get close to Elizabeth.
